A lot of hats

Since it is getting colder, I seem to have the urge to knit hats. And so I did.

This is a hat I made with Kauni yarn from a pattern that is featured in Charmed Knits. After knitting it, I washed and dried it, to felt it a bit. It now fits a 5-year-old.

Thit one I made with Scheepjes Softfun in a colour that is similar to the colour of my coat (I like being visible when riding my bike). I was inspired by Brooklyn Tweed's Porom(ravelry link). But since I only had one ball of yarn, it could only become a hat. I finished the hat with about two yards of yarn left in 4 tries. First I had to get the number of stitches and the needle size right and the 4th time I ripped back the crown, so I would get the most out of my yarn. I like the result, and the hat has already been used a lot.

This is the Marsan Watchcap. I made it with 88 stitches on a 3,5 mm needle and it fits a 2 to 3-year-old. I has 25 rows before the turn, 48 rows between the turn and the decreases. I decreased until I had 8 stitches left and then pulled the stitches together with the end of the yarn. The yarn is Scheepjes Softfun, a 60% cotton and 40% acrylic blend, and very soft. I really like the way the reversed knit stitches make a crisp standing out rib.

This is my version of the Selbu Modern which seems to be popping up all over the internet. It is a very nice pattern. I first made one with scraps of yarn to see if I could manage the Fair Isle knitting. I had the main colour in my right hand and the contrasing colour in my left. That worked fine for me. After the first test model was finished, I very soon cast on for the full size version on a 4 mm size needle. I used Scheepjes Donna, which is 50% Merina wool and 50% acrylic microfibre.A view from the top.
The pattern is kind of addictive, and I also made a hat in black and blue. It has seven panels instead of the normal eight, so it is a tighter fit than the beret model.

Wolhemel Blanket KAL

Like so many others, I have also started the Wolhemel Blanket KAL. I'm making it in Drops Muskat, colour 32 Turkoois.

The pattern for block number 4 has already been published, but I haven't yet finished block number 3.

The first socks for me

I already made several pairs of socks, but not one for myself. That has been changed with finishing these:

I used the pattern that can be found on Wolhalla, with a short-row heel and some stitches added for the instep.

I really like the colour of the yarn: Regia Galaxy.

Offset Wraplan

This is the Offset Wraplan (Ravelry link) I made for a special little girl that was born 11th August. Her birth was a bit of a surprise, so I had to make something after we had heard she was born instead of beforehand. I made socks to go with the cardigan.

I sent it off on Monday and I hope it will be liked and used.

Feather and Fan Comfort Shawl

This is the Feather and Fan Comfort Shawl that I made in August as a gift. It was an easy and rather quick knit, which was just as well as I had set myself a goal to knit this within two weeks. So I was knitting during every spare moment, where ever I was. I'm glad that the recipient really liked it. That made giving it even more special.

I used yarn from my stash, it is a wool/acrylic blend. It must have been in my stash for more than a decade. The yarn is just a tad too itchy for my skin. This was a great opportunity to use it.

Running out of yarn

I found this beautiful pattern on My Aunts Attic and I am crocheting a curtain or wall-hanging with it.

I bought the yarn during our holiday in Austria last year. I could only buy two skeins. Is is a beautiful blue colour and I think it really suits "Night", as the pattern is called, very well.

I have been working on and off this project during the last 12 months or so. I have now finished one skein and have done about one third of the pattern. I have now come to the point where I have got to decide whether to frog everything or make the middle part in a different colour. I think I will let this project rest for a while and maybe start again with another colour.
